Betty J. Moore – McLeansboro

85-year-old Betty J. Moore of McLeansboro, died at 10:50 p.m. in Carmi on Wednesday, October 21.  Born April 14, 1935 to Thurman and Josephine (Bequeret) Thomas, she later married Thomas W. Egbert (deceased) and to that union was born two sons: Thomas Jr. (deceased) and Vernon (Robbin) Egbert of Cahokia, IL.  On February 27, 1987 she married Richard Moore and helped him raise his three children: Bryce (Jennifer) Moore of Highland, IL, Patricia (Carl) Handel of Rockwood, IL and Karen (Travis) Keenan of St. Peters, MO.  Betty was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Samuel, Joshua, Elijah and Nathan Moore, Jessica and Jacob Handel and Luke and Seth Keenan. Also surviving are two sisters: Josephine Champ and Sandy Talbert.

Betty was a loving and caring soul who enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with family and friends.  An active member of the Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church, she was a passionate participant in the Women’s Missionary Union and the Auxiliary of the local Gideon’s Camp.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Bill Miller officiating.  Those attending the service are asked to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
