Beverly Joyce Buchanan – Fairfield

Beverly Joyce Buchanan, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 28, 2020 at her residence in Fairfield.

Joyce was born January 29, 1943 to Marvin and Laura (Ahlfield) Spray in Council Grove, Kansas. Joyce graduated from Fairfield Community High School with the class of 1961. She married Frank E. Buchanan Sr. on April 15, 1965 in Fairfield and they have enjoyed over 55 years together working on their farm and raising their family. Joyce was a homemaker who loved to can and cook using the produce from her big garden each year. She was a faithful attendee of the Peacemakers Quilt Guild in Wayne City where she put her sewing talents to good use. She volunteered at the Hope Food Pantry, with 4H when her kids were growing up, and she was a member of the Trinity General Baptist Church west of Fairfield.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories are her husband, Frank, son, Frank Eldon Buchanan Jr. and wife Susan of Fairfield, daughters, Sonya Grigsby of Tyler, Texas, Rhonda Koker of Fairfield, Lisa Ewing of Evansville, Indiana, and Bobbi Jo Jacko-Clement and husband Harry of Fairfield, sisters Shirley and husband Bill Irvine of Geff, Jean Moore of Mt. Vernon, eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Joyce in death were her parents and sister, Pauline Woolsey.

Graveside services for Joyce Buchanan will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at the gravesite.  Please follow the CDC guidelines with social distancing and the wearing of masks. Memorials may be made to Canaan Bridge Church and will be accepted at the service or at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield who are in charge of the arrangements.
