Gerold Ray Legg – Sims

80-year-old Gerold Ray Legg of Sims, died at 6:48PM on January 4 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt Vernon, IL. He was born in Wayne County on June 7, 1940 to Elmer and Wilma (Williams) Legg. Gerold was a well-known welder and farmer for many years of Legg Welding and Legg Farms and was also a member of Sims Missionary Baptist Church.

Gerold is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia (Robertson) Legg of Sims; son- Lanny (Stacey) Legg, twin daughters- Lana (Todd) Burner and Lisa L. Scarbrough all of Sims; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters- Joan (Seth) Holmes of Fairfield, Joyce Day of Mt Carmel, Kay (Larry) White, and Rhonda (Charles) Vanway both of Sims; sisters-in-law Lelah Garrison and Bev Robertson both of Sims; brothers-in-law Bill (Doris) Robertson and Harold (Alene) Robertson both of Fairfield.

Gerold was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, and numerous brother and sister in laws.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, January 12 at Pin Oak Cemetery. There will be no visitation, family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Everyone attending the service is asked to follow State of Illinois and CDC guidelines of social distancing and to please wear a mask. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
