87-year-old Carla Foster of Fairfield, died at 11:55 AM, Wednesday, February 24 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Born on September 6, 1933 in Wayne County to Maurice and Grace (Malone) Smith, she had owned and operated the Shell gas station in Fairfield for 27 years with her husband Everett. Carla also worked at Your Flower Shop. She was a member of the Fairfield First Baptist Church, working in the nursery for over 60 years, and was a volunteer with the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
Carla is survived by her husband Everett Foster of Fairfield, daughter Donna (Mike) Glenn of Mt. Vernon, IL, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter on the way, sister-in-law Shirley Smith of Wooster, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill Smith.
Funeral services for Carla Foster will be held at 1 PM, Friday, February 26 at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service. Everyone attending the service is encouraged to follow social distancing and mask guidelines, and to wear casual dress. Memorials in her honor may be made to Baptist Children’s Home and will be accepted at the funeral home.
