Yvonne “Jeanette” Cooper – Fairfield

87-year-old Yvonne “Jeanette” Cooper of Fairfield, died at 12:40am on Tuesday, March 23 at Aperion Care of Fairfield.

Jeanette was born on May 8, 1933, in Miami, Florida, to  Charles Gustafson and Mary (Cole) Gustafson. She was later adopted by her step-father, Thomas Peterson.  She married James Rodney Cooper on June 8, 1951, in Pittsburg, TX. Jeanette lived most of her life in Florida and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time member of the Hatchbend Apostolic Church in Branford, FL, before moving to Fairfield in 2014, where she became a member of the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include two sons Phillip (Lois) Cooper of Fairfield, James Rodney (Desi) Cooper, Jr. of Gainesville, FL, four grandchildren Ashley (Tres) Crosby of Branford, FL, Blake (Chelsie) Cooper of Old Town, FL, Crystal (Louie) Baylon of Stewart, GA, and Alex Cooper of Gainesville, FL, 1 step-granddaughter Janelle Monroe of Fairfield, and three great grandchildren Victoria Baylon of Gainesville, FL, Brandon Baylon of Stewart, GA, and Hoyt Cooper of Old Town, FL, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, one son Darren Cooper, and a brother Sonny Peterson.

Per Jeanette’s request, her body has been cremated. A memorial service for Jeanette will be held at 10am on Friday, March 26th, at the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church, 1112 SW 6th St, in Fairfield, with burial of James and Jeanette Cooper’s ashes in Maple Hill Cemetery following the service. Military rites will be provided for James Cooper by the Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW. Memorials can be made to either Feed My Sheep or the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church and will be accepted at the church or at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
