Laura Louise Rodatz – Wayne City

75-year-old Laura Louise Rodatz of Wayne City, formerly of Salem, died at 7:45 am on Tuesday, April 13 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield.

She worked as a lab director at Salem Township Hospital and St Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt Vernon.  She also worked as a machine quilter from her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 17th at the Wayne City First Christian Church in Wayne City, with Steve Griswold officiating. Burial will be in the Arrington Prairie Cemetery in Sims. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 16th at the Wayne City First Christian Church.

She was born January 10, 1946 in Mt Vernon, to Paul and Novella (Dickey) Bailey. She married Paul “Peanut” Edward Rodatz, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2010. She married Frank “Sonny” Ristick, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2016.

She was a member of Wayne City First Christian Church. She founded and quilted over 500 quilts for the community for the Passion Through Christ sewing group.  She was involved as the President of the Wayne City Kissner Public Library Board, Wayne City Piece Makers, and Wayne County Association for Home and Community Education as Hickory Hill President and Wayne County Community Outreach and Cultural Enrichment chairman.

She is survived by a Daughter:  Vickie Englebright of Salem; Son:  Scott Rodatz of Wayne City; Grandsons:  Jacob (Ashley) Cobble of Newton and Chris (Alisha) Cobble of New Minden; Granddaughter:  Misti (Charles) Badger of Carlyle; Great-granddaughters:  Lilly Cobble of Newton and Sarah June Badger of Carlyle; Nieces:  Diane (Bill) Thomason of Cisne, Nancy (Rick) Ellis of Cisne, Patty (Jerry) Caudle of Cisne, Donna (Tim) Manahan of Cisne, and Rogena (Terry) Moyer of Fairfield; Nephews:  Danny (Rachel) Bailey of Cisne, Ryan (Kathy) Bailey of Fairfield, David Bailey of Fairfield, and Darrell (Shari) Bailey of Fairfield; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and 22 great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Parents:  Paul and Novella (Dickey) Bailey; Spouses:  Paul “Peanut” Edward Rodatz and Frank “Sonny” Ristick; Brothers: Charles “Bud” Bailey, June Dickey Bailey, Roy Bailey, and Gene Bailey; Infant Brother:  Everett Bailey; and Sister: Pauline Bailey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne City Kissner Public Library and will be accepted at the service.
