Ronald Kenneth McKenzie – Galatia, IL formerly of Carmi

Ronald Kenneth McKenzie, 67, of rural Galatia, Illinois, formerly of Carmi, Illinois, died Thursday, July 8, 2021, at his home.  He was born July 19, 1953, in Eldorado, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Henson) McKenzie.

Ron was an electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 702 in West Frankfort, Illinois, and a member of the Eagles Club in McLeansboro, Illinois.  He also worked in his younger years as a derrick hand on a rotary oil drilling rig. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and he loved beagle and rottweiler dogs.  In recent years, he enjoyed visiting numerous national parks. He was always quick with a joke or a prank.

Survivors include sons Ron (Lonnie) McKenzie of Parker, Colorado, and James McKenzie of Magnolia, Texas; sister Cynthia (Larry) Mayberry of Black Mountain, North Carolina; grandchildren Tristan McKenzie, Devon McKenzie, Alicia McKenzie, Savannah McKenzie, and Destiny McKenzie; and his loyal rottweiler dog, Lexi.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is 5-7 pm, Friday, July 16, 2021, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Funeral is 10 am, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Cook Funeral Chapel with burial in White County Memorial Gardens near Carmi.
