Karen Margaret Aker – Grayville

Karen Margaret Aker of Grayville, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2021. She was born on June 16,1943, in Gulfport, MS, to Wesley and Lola Aker, who both predeceased her. She was 78 years of age.

Karen graduated from Grayville High School in 1961, and went to work at Wabash Valley Service Company in Grayville soon after. She was a dedicated employee there for 36 years. She was a tireless worker for the Grayville Senior Citizens, serving as president for many years, and helping in numerous ways at Grayville First Christian Church, where she was a longtime member and past Sunday school teacher.

Karen is survived by her sister, Nancy Green of Port Charlotte, FL, and her brother Kevin Aker (Diane) of Newburgh, IN; nieces and nephews, Amanda Malatlian, Jeremy Green, Krystal Whitsell, Kody Conrad, and Brian Aker; and 10 great nieces and nephews. Karen is also survived by her dear friends and neighbors, Norma Grimes, and Diana, Reece, and Abby Compton.

She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. Karen will be sorely missed, but her entrance into Heaven is celebrated greatly!

The family would like to thank the staff of Newburgh Healthcare and Heart to Heart Hospice for their exceptional and loving care in Karen’s last days.
