Floyd Galen Rogers – Fairfield

79-year-old Floyd Galen Rogers, lifelong Fairfield resident, died on Friday, September 10 at his home. Mr. Rogers had been suffering from complications of pre-Leukemia since 2018.

Floyd was born on October 7, 1941, to Lester and Juanita (Masterson) Rogers. He was raised on the family farm outside of Fairfield. His greatest joy was family, which he demonstrated by taking care of his mother and grandmother throughout their lives. He was also an ardent supporter of numerous Christian ministries.

Floyd retired from GTE after many years of service. He was a member of the Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1959 and served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966. He was a life member of the American Legion and a tremendous patriot.

He is survived by his niece, Traci Rogers Maze (Scott), of Fort Worth, TX, great-nephews, Miles and Matthew, and great-niece, Macaul, of Fort Worth, nephew Keith Kline of Fairfield and niece Carol Kline of Monticello, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Juanita Rogers of Fairfield, brothers Rev. Carroll of Fairfield, Jerry of Newburgh, IN, and sister Wilma Kline of Fairfield.

Special thanks to the nurses and medical staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois for caring for Floyd in the months preceding his death. You were a tremendous blessing to him.

Family and friends are invited to a brief graveside service at the Maple Hill Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 4. He was buried next to his brother, Jerry.
