Bobby “Dedi” B. Dickey – Wayne City

Bobby “Dedi” B. Dickey, 75, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL.

He was born September 15, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, IL to his parents Glen E. Dickey & Marie (Peyton) Dickey.  On June 2, 1965 he married Linda Ruth (Redmon) Dickey, who survives.

Bobby worked as a truck driver for most of his life.  He was an owner/operator of Bobby Dickey Trucking, and he worked for Truck Centers, Inc. of Mt. Vernon, IL for over 20 years and retired from that position.  He enjoyed stock car & dirt track racing, and he loved sports – especially basketball.  He was an avid basketball player when he played on the Wayne City High School basketball team, graduating from there in the Class of 1964.  He adored his kids and grandkids, and loved spending time with his family.  He was a Christian and was of the Baptist faith.

Bobby is survived by his wife Linda Dickey of Wayne City, 2 sons: Robby (Lisa) Dickey of Bluford, IL and Rodney (Dana) Dickey of Wayne City; 2 daughters: Brandi (Robby) Anderson and Bridget (Chris) Simpson, both of Wayne City; 10 grandchildren: Dakota, Brianna, Kerry, Collin, Maggie, Ellie, Koby, Khloe, Paisley, and Baylor; 6 great-grandchildren: Bristol, Brody, Graham, Addy, Miles, and Otto; 2 brothers: Bud (Doris) Dickey and Brad (Teri) Dickey, both of Rochelle, IL; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents.

 

Funeral Services for Bobby “Dedi” B. Dickey will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Pastor Jay Loucks and Rob Greenwalt officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.  Burial will take place at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
