Berlene Rose Bakos, 79, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
She was born on April 6, 1942 in Wayne City, IL to her parents Berl and Mildred (Sharp) Hickey. Berlene married John Gilbert Bakos, who preceded her in death. Berlene worked as an admitting clerk at Fairfield Memorial Hospital for 28 years. She enjoyed crafts, cooking gadgets, and collecting cookbooks.
Berlene is survived by son Kevin (Lauren) Bakos of Vienna, IL; daughter Kimberly (Bill) Laird of Oakley, CA; son Alan (Susan) Bakos of Bonita Springs, FL; and sister Patricia Hawk of Wayne City, IL. Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren with one on the way, two nieces, and six nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by both parents Berl and Mildred Hickey, husband John Bakos, sister Vivian Owens and sister Peg Pitman.
