Fern Blockley – Carmi

89-year-old Fern Blockley of Carmi, died on Wednesday, November 10 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.  She was born on August 18, 1932, the daughter of Charlie and Hattie Mae (Cusic) Newcomb.  Fern married Charles Blockley on June 16, 1953, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1962.  She was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Carmi, where she served in the Ladies Guild.  Fern was also a member of the VFW Auxillary, and enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Fern is survived by her daughter, Monica Blockley of Carmi; a sister-in-law, Frances Blockley of Herrin, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Blockley; her parents; a sister, Geraldine Balentine and a half sister, Lois Shelton.

Funeral services for Fern Blockley, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 15 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with burial at Masonic an Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  Contributions can be made in Fern’s memory to Pets At Risk and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
