Joan Miller Stanford, age 75, of Flora, IL, formerly of Flemington, NJ, passed away on September 6, 2022, at Richland Nursing and Rehab in Olney, Illinois.
Born to Donald J. and Eleanor Steinke Miller on June 17, 1947, Joan grew up in Tewksbury Township, NJ and graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School in 1965. After working as a secretary for several years in private business, Joan was employed by the County of Hunterdon where she was secretary to the Director of the Hunterdon County Communication System from the time of its inception until her retirement in 2002.
After her retirement Joan enjoyed spending time with her families in New Jersey and Illinois and going to country music shows, NASCAR races, and a variety of casino trips.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Roger Dale Stanford. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Kathy Miller & Tom Wiedenman; Ed Miller & Susan Carrara; and Don & Nancy Miller; her nephews Brian Miller and Craig (Paula) Miller and niece Christina Herndon; grandnieces Ashlyn & Addison Miller; cousins Carol (Ken) Lenz and William Bronner; and sister-in-law Colene Wood and her children, Casey & Kassie.
Joan’s family are deeply grateful to Ed and Linda Leak, their son, daughter-in-law & grandsons, all of Flora, Illinois, for the friendship, love, and attention they gave Joan over the years and for all the care and comfort they provided Joan and her family during the past months.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
