Megan Nichols of Fairfield

Megan Nichols of Fairfield, IL, 15, died just fifteen days away from her 16th birthday on July 3rd, 2014. She was born on July 18th, 1998, in Evansville, IN and was the daughter of Kathy Jo (Nichols) Hutchcraft and Jerod Hutchcraft.

Megan was an energetic, happy young lady who always tried to bring joy and laughs to anyone around her. She attended New Hope School and not surprisingly, enthusiastically participated in cheerleading, softball, volleyball, band, and many other school activities. At Fairfield Community High School, she enjoyed being on the volleyball team and continued to focus on music by performing in band and expressing her joy of singing and making people smile, in show choir.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield where she expressed her love for Jesus by singing in the church choir and having fun with her friends in the youth group.

At home, she loved singing and playing her ukulele for her pets, family, and friends. She loved to put smiles on their faces.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Barney Henson of Albion, IL, Great-grandmother, Alice Appleton of Fairfield, IL, Cousin, Kevin Henson of Albion, IL, and her Uncle, Barney Henson Jr.

Megan is survived by her grandparents, Janet and John Poole of Fairfield, IL, Uncles Jerry (Lisa) Henson of Albion, IL and Scott (Lorinda) Henson of Albion, IL, mother Kathy Jo (Nichols) Hutchcraft and Jerod Hutchcraft of Fairfield, and her father John David Jackson Nichols of Tulsa, OK.

Megan was finally laid to rest in the cemetery at Union North Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fairfield during a private ceremony on February 2nd, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, starting at 5pm at the First Baptist Church of Fairfield. The family requests that this day is to be about Megan’s life and the joy she brought to so many. Memorials can be made to help offset the funeral costs at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home or First Baptist Church of Fairfield.
