Jefferson County Officials Arrest Man Following Investigation Into Child Pornography

A Mount Vernon man is behind bars following a nearly 4-week investigation into suspected child pornography.

On February 27th, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force member received a cyber tip of suspected child pornography activity in the Jefferson County area. The investigation resulted in search warrants for IP addresses and related social media information. The information obtained led to subsequent search warrant being served by Sheriff’s Office Deputies and  Detectives on March 20th at the Mt. Vernon residence of 508 S. 26th Street. Evidence was secured at the residence, which was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for forensic examination.

The examination of the evidence in this case led to Sheriff’s Office Detectives locating the primary resident of the dwelling, 34-year-old Joshua W. Sandweg, arresting him on a charge of child pornography. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he awaits a bond hearing.
