Lady Mules Win 4th Straight, Knocking Off NCOE

The Fairfield Lady Mules picked up a 12-2 win over Norris City/Omaha/Enfield in 5 innings at Southwest Park.

NCOE scores 2 runs in the first on a fielders choice and a sac fly to right to take a 2-0 lead. Fairfield countered with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning on a dropped 3rd strike, a single, and an error.

The Lady Cardinals in the top of the 2nd had a runner reach on a walk and a hit, but the tying run was thrown out on a strike from centerfielder Callista Willet to catcher Kayden Wells. On the other side, Olivia Smith singled, but was called out for advancing too early. Rylee Edwards walked, but Kayden Wells grounded out to 2nd to end the inning as the game remained 3-2.

In the top of the third, Ali Rice delivered a shutdown inning, retiring the Lady Cardinals in order. In the bottom of the inning, Ali rice led off with a single, A flout by Hunter Kirk and a defensive error advanced the courtesy runner, Katie Shelton to 2nd with 1 out. Reagan Wells walked and advancing on the ball 4 wild pitch was Shelton. On the first pitch of the Willet At-bat, Reagan Wells took 2nd uncontested, moving runners to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Willet came back to take a base on balls and loaded the bases. Sydnee Sauls struck out Nykia Staton and Ashley Anderson lined out to 3rd to end the bases loaded threat, leaving the game at 3-2 Fairfield.

Alivia Rice struck out Sauls to lead off the 4th and then Elsie Horton singled. Journee Williams struck out looking and Madaline Fulkerson grounded out to 2rd to end the top of the 4th, leaving the game at 3-2. Olivia Smith led off the bottom of the 5th with a single. Rylee Edwards reached on a fielder’s choice and both runners advanced on an error. A Sac Fly from Kayden well makes the game 4-2. Ali Rice doubled to left, making the score 5-2. Hunter Kirk doubled, driving in a run and making it a 6-2 game. Reagan Wells bunted and a failed tag play led to Reagan Wells reaching on a Fielder’s Choice and Fairfield extending their lead to 7-2. Callista Willet singled, advancing Wells to 2nd. Staton singled to load the bases. Anderson popped out for the 2nd out. Smith singled in her 2nd at bat of the inning, driving in a pair and making the score 9-2. Edwards singled and loaded the bases for Kayden Wells. Wells singled and all 3 runners scored, making it a 12-2 game. Ali Rice lined out to right to end the inning,

NCOE faced Reagan Wells in the 5th. Wells struck out Alexa McMahan and Bree Vollmer. Wells then hit Mallory Hobbs with a pitch in the knee. Hannah Taylor grounded out to 3rd to end the game.

Lady Mules are now 16-8 on the season and have won 4 straight games.
