The Fairfield Community High School Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting Thursday night.
Board action included:
Approval of the consent agenda
Acceptance of the flex fuel bid from Meyer Oil (Mach 1) for FY2026-27, with Derek Smothers casting the only “no” vote
Approval of the 2026-2027 school calendar
Acceptance of the resignations of Cassandra Medler and Caylee Austin as paraprofessionals
Re-hiring of Rick White as a long-term substitute
Hiring of Mackenzie Henry as a paraprofessional
Hiring of Nathan Simpson and Harold “Ed” Hammond as co-sponsors for the Sportsmen’s Program
The Student Focus portion of the meeting featured Mr. Hayden McDuffee and cast members from the upcoming production of “Legally Blonde,” as well as Mrs. Sally Kirk and students from the Lifetime Activities class.
Superintendent Robert Wells reported on the 5 Essentials Survey, provided an update on the ongoing ADA project, and highlighted information from the recent Governor’s State of the State and Budget address.
