The Fairfield Public School District #112 Board of Education adopted its Fiscal Year 2027 budget and filled a vacant board seat during its Monday night meeting.
The board seated Shelby Esmon to fill the vacancy. Esmon will serve until the April election.
Superintendent Kristina Gardner reported the district has received 8 percent of its anticipated revenue and has spent 16 percent of its FY27 budget.
The district’s food service fund currently has a balance of $270,226.01.
Gardner also reported the district spent $1,193 on bus repairs, including a battery, state inspections and replacement of a clock spring for the horns. IDOT inspected the district’s buses on September 1, with all buses passing inspection.
Board members reviewed the district’s 10-year Health Life Safety Survey. Items identified in the report include the North Side parking lot, resealing parking areas at Center Street, replacement of ceiling tiles at both schools and repairs or replacement of several door closures and exit signs.
The board also renewed the district’s agreement with Bushue Human Resources and approved its annual Child and Family Connections agreement with agencies providing early intervention programs.
Gardner noted the district’s annual Salary and Benefits Report is required to be posted on the district website.
The board entered closed session later in the meeting. No action was taken following the closed session.
