The Board of Trustees for the Illinois Eastern Community College District met on Tuesday evening at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson.
During the meeting, the Board approved a resolution stipulating that Trustees will gather on the third Tuesday of each month. However, the April meeting will be held on the fourth Tuesday, and the December meeting will take place on the second Tuesday of the month. Additionally, the Board sanctioned a special meeting on December 10th at 9:30 AM at the Terry L. Bruce West Richland Center in Noble. This special session will focus on work discussions, with no formal decisions expected. The regular meeting on December 10th has also been rescheduled from 6:15 PM to 4:30 PM at Olney Central College.
The Board accepted a Facility Use Agreement with Clay County Hospital, allowing the use of their radiology rooms and equipment. They also approved a resolution for the estimated tax levy for 2024 and scheduled a public hearing on December 10th due to a proposed property tax levy increase exceeding 5%.
In personnel matters, the Board approved the hiring of Jody White as the JTED Grant Project Manager and Chet Snyder as the Head Volleyball Coach/Student Life Coordinator at Frontier Community College, both effective December 2nd. Additionally, a change in employment status for Derek Dunn was approved, transitioning him from Educational Technology Specialist to Coordinator of Marketing & Public Information at Frontier Community College.
The Board ratified the retirement of Gerald “Jay” Edgren, who will step down as President of Frontier Community College and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs effective June 30, 2025.
