The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) is set to host a series of employment screening events for individuals interested in the Juvenile Justice Specialist positions.
Juvenile Justice Specialists play a vital role in shaping the lives of youth by creating a safe and supportive environment through mentoring and direct supervision. These positions are full-time, year-round, and involve shift work, with a starting salary of $62,532.
Openings are available at the following Illinois youth centers: Harrisburg and Grafton. The details for the upcoming screening events are as follows:

Interested applicants must attend one of the scheduled screening events to be eligible for consideration. Additionally, candidates must complete an online application at least three days prior to their chosen screening date and download, print, and fill out the required forms available on the IDJJ careers website (idjj.illinois.gov/careers). Screening sessions will commence at 8 a.m. and will last between four to six hours. Attendees are advised to wear comfortable clothing and bring both a copy and the original of their valid driver’s license.
Eligible candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and be authorized to work in the United States. Those without a bachelor’s degree should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least two years of experience in providing direct care to youth, which can include residential care, coaching, case management, or mentoring.
