Road Ranger Employee Injured in Robbery Of Store

A Road Ranger employee is recovering after being shot in what Illinois State Police say was an Armed Robbery at the gas station. It was around 3 am when ISP said they were called in by the White County Sheriff’s Office to investigate. During the robbery, a 35-year-old female clerk was shot. The suspect, a black female, left the scene in a Jeep Cherokee. The clerk was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. ISP Troop 9 units later located the suspect vehicle disabled along Interstate 64 and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect is 39-year-old Kimberly R. Clerk. Clerk faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, felony possession of a firearm with a prior conviction, and causing a child to be endangered, The investigation is active and ongoing. Clerk is in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
