Brian Eugene Johnson, 61, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home.
He was born September 15, 1961, the son of Paul and Carolyn (Sandusky) Johnson of McLeansboro. Brian was a factory worker at Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, IL and Baldwin Manufacturing in McLeansboro, and had previously worked in the oil fields. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church of McLeansboro.
He loved hunting, especially deer hunting, as well as fishing and gardening. He was a very caring person who put others before himself and he had a great deal of respect for our veterans. He loved spending time with his grandson, Logan Lee Johnson.
Brian is survived by his parents Paul and Carolyn Johnson of McLeansboro, son Brian Cole Johnson of Belle Rive, IL; grandson Logan Lee Johnson of Belle Rive, 2 uncles: Jerry (Nancy) Johnson of McLeansboro and Robert (Susan) Johnson of West Frankfort, IL; 2 aunts: Ruth (Doyce) Sheraden of Carmi, IL and Jane Sandusky of Hoodville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Eugene & Bernice Johnson, and maternal grandparents: Russell & Faye Sandusky, and an uncle Ronnie Sandusky.
Funeral services for Brian Eugene Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.
