Tate Status Hearing Continued to July 13th.

Ray Tate appeared via zoom to the court from the Menard Correctional Center as Tate is in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Tate originally pled guilty to the killing of Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Riley on I-64 in late 2021.

According to Tate, his attorney Heidi Hoffee, and officials with the Menard Correctional Facility, mail correspondence between Tate, Hoffee, and the Court was halted by a level 1 lockdown at the correctional institution. The current request has been tabled until July 13th at 2 PM in Wayne County Court.

From there, Judge Molt mentioned that once everything is in place, a 604 hearing will be set and Tate will be in person at the Wayne County Courthouse for that hearing.
