On June 10, 2023 the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen ATV in Songer Township.
On Wednesday, a deputy observed what he believed to the stolen ATV traveling on Vandalia Rd. near Bethel Dr. occupied by a male driver and two passengers. The deputy identified the driver as a person suspected in the theft of the ATV. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the ATV. During the stop the deputy was unable to retrieve the VIN of the ATV due to paint being placed over it, but was able to observe specific identifying features matching the stolen ATV. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The ATV was towed to the sheriff’s office, at which point deputies were able to confirm by the VIN that the ATV was stolen.
As a result of the investigation 40-year-old Adam K. Fancher of Farina was arrested for Theft. Fancher is currently being held in the Clay County Jail awaiting the setting of bond.
