Severe Weather Dominated Thursday

Thursday was dominated by severe weather watches and warnings throughout the area.

The first watches in our area began at 3 AM and the last watch ended around 9 PM last night. There were also warnings at multiple times throughout the day.

On the WFIW Facebook page, several have submitted storm photos to our post in regard to the weather.

According to storm reports from the National Weather Service, Wabash County Emergency Management at 7:27 PM reported golfball sized hail in Wabash County on Route 1 near County Road 350 South. In storms earlier in the day, emergency management reported multiple trees down in the area 4 miles to the west northwest of Mount Carmel.

In Wayne County, Quarter Inch Hail was reported by a citizen around 3:23 PM.

Clay and Richland Counties according to the National Weather Service Office in Lincoln reported hail up to 2 inches in diameter in the last round of storms that moved though.

According to the reports out of Paducah, most of the reports came out of Williamson County, IL as well as Western Kentucky where a water rescue was needed in Daviess County, Vanderburgh and Gibson Counties in Indiana was there was mobile home damage and numerous trees and power lines knocked out.

A slight risk of severe weather continues thru today in the WFIW and WOKZ Listening Area. Saturday currently shows an enhanced risk for the entire area. Sunday currently is showing a slight risk area wide. Official say storms are in the forecast off and on thru Sunday.
