Raymond Woodrow – Barnhill

Raymond Woodrow, 94, of Barnhill, died at 3:11am on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. He had been a farmer most of his life. In this younger years, along with farming, he had also worked on a drilling rig in the oilfields.

Raymond was born on April 26, 1929, in Barnhill Township, IL, to Roy and Marian (Meeks) Woodrow. On April 15, 1950, in Piggott, AR, he married the love of his life, Margaret (Simpson) Woodrow, who preceded him in death in 2012.

Survivors include a son Ronald (Liz Ann) Woodrow of Barnhill, two daughters Karen (Bill) Lafield of Arlington, VA, and Marilyn (Mark) Platter of Jamestown, TN, five grandchildren Courtney (Jeremy) Mays, Natalie (Josh) Caruso, Maggie (Dan) Wychocki, Marissa (George) Granter, and Kera (David) Vinson, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, a son Russell Woodrow, a brother Richard Woodrow, and a sister Virginia Herbert.

A masonic service, followed by a funeral service, will be at 2pm on Monday, July 3rd at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
