During distracted driving patrols in Wayne and Effingham Counties, troopers issued a total of 24 distracted driving citations. 20 of those were for handheld phone violations, 3 were for texting and driving violations, and 1 was for another offense. Overall, 24 citations and 5 warnings were issued during the distracted driving patrols.
During NITE Patrols in Effingham, Fayette, Hamilton, and Marion Counties, troopers issued 71 warnings and 29 citations or arrests. 21 of the incidents involved license, registration, or insurance violations and 5 occupant restraint violations were observed.
During Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols in Marion and Richland Counties, Troopers issued 35 citations. 29 of those 35 citations were for occupant restraint violations. 1 of those was a citation for a child restraint violation.
