Bernard J. “Chuck” Valdez, 71, of Grayville, Illinois, died Friday, June 7, 2023, at his home. He was born March 25, 1952, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Barella) Valdez. He was married to Rebecca Joyce (Lingafelter) Valdez and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2019.
Chuck was retired from a career in energy production having worked both in the oil fields and open pit mining. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan, and he enjoyed tinkering, working in his yard, and his beloved dog, Rusty.
Survivors include son John (Christy) Rankin of Milan, Michigan; sisters Linda and Brenda; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers Arthur, Jr., and Donnie.
Chuck’s wishes were to be cremated and his cremated remains returned to Michigan.
There will be no services.
