Charles V. Cox, age 85 and a resident of McLeansboro, IL, passed away
at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in
McLeansboro, IL.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Harre
Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 with Pastor
Bill Prince officiating and Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery,
McLeansboro, IL
Charles was born October 4, 1937 in McLeansboro, IL to Alva Herman Cox
and Martha Ethel (Weems) Cox. He later married Shelby Jean Huffstutler
on June 10, 1983 in McLeansboro, IL. He was employed as a laborer by
the County Highway Department and he attended Hopewell Baptist Church
near McLeansboro, IL.
Survivors include his Wife, Shelby Cox of McLeansboro, IL; 3 Sons: Charles (Chuck)
- Cox of Dale, IL; Jerry W. Cox and wife Terri, Chicago, IL; Robert L. Cox and wife
Ali, Minneapolis, MN; Daughters, Cindy Hazelton and husband Jim, Dallas, TX;
Kimberly Lantrip and husband Jeff of Johnson City, IL; Charlene Chambliss and husband Kenny of Mt. Vernon, IL; a Brother John Robert Cox of McLeansboro, IL;
Seven Grandchildren, two Great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Charles was preceded in death by his Parents; 5 Brothers- Nobel, Lowell, Jerry, Virgil
and Bill; two Sisters, Mabel and Betty.
HARRE FUNERAL HOME, McLeansboro, was in charge of arrangements.
