Ray Eugene Mayberry, 84, Enfield

  Ray Eugene Mayberry, 84, of Enfield, passed away on Tuesday, July, 25, 2023, at Enfield Rehab and Healthcare. He was born on November 1, 1938, in Norris City, Illinois, the son of Ray and Ruby (Nelson) Mayberry. Gene was a truck driver. He was a member of  Ashland Christian Church and was a Freemason for over 63 years with his membership in Atlanta, IL, Lodge # 165 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed traveling, raising horses, collecting antique tractors, but most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family.

Gene is survived by his children, Jerry Mayberry of Livermore, KY, Debbie (Terry) Morris of Calhoun, KY, Kathy Mayberry of Graham, KY, Sheila (Rick) Parker of Fairfield, VA, and Jason (Erin) Mayberry of Palm Harbor, FL,   and ; grandchildren, Jamie (Shawn) West, Mandy (Nathan) Ward, John-Michael (Taylor) Morris, Cody (Lexi) Mayberry, Carla (Justin) Lewis, Eric (Leanne Holcomb) Cochran, Skyler (Haley) Cochran, Olivia Mackey, Isla Rae Mayberry, Laina Mayberry, and Willa Mayberry; great-grandchildren, Tyler West, KyLee West, Ashton West, Kaleb Level, Kamden Level, Kenadi Level, Sydney Ward and Evan Ward, Hayden Morris, Landyn Morris, Brooks Morris, Adalena “Addie” Mayberry, Jenna Lewis, Joston Lewis, and Henlee Cochran; a sister, Carol (Larry) Stafford of Peoria, IL; many cousins that were like brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Gene is also survived by his fur baby, Jackie, whom he entrusted her care  to his good friend Sharon Biggerstaff. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Marvin Mayberry.

Gene’s family would like to give a special thank you to Becki Flowers, Connie’s One Stop, Enfield Rehab and Healthcare and Residential Hospice for all they did for him.

A service celebrating the life of Gene Mayberry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, IL, with Masonic Rites beginning at 12:45 p.m. and inurnment following immediately in Enfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In honor of Gene’s love for his dog, Jackie, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local animal shelter. Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of arrangements.
