Gerald Ray Launius, age 78 and resident of McLeansboro, IL passed away at
6:17 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Evansville, IN
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Freedom
Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Moore officiating.
Jerry was born February 4, 1945 in Eldorado, IL at Ferrell Hospital to Ernest Carl
Launius and Helen Gray (Douglass) Launius. He attended school in Hamilton County
and graduated with the Class of ’63. Jerry worked as a farmer his whole adult life. He married Donna Cotter on September 24, 1971 in Mt. Vernon, IL and she survives.
Survivors include his wife Donna Launius, McLeansboro, IL; daughter LaDonna Lasater and
Husband Barry, McLeansboro; his brother Larry Launius (wife Elsie) of Walpole, IL; two grandsons
Slade and Daxton Lasater; several nephews and nieces; long time friends Eileen and Pete Mayberry
and Jeremy and Amy Glenn.
Preceding Jerry in death were his Parents Carl and Helen Launius.
HARRE FUNERAL HOME, McLeansboro, is in charge of arrangements.
