Helen Virginia (Hunt) Short, 98, of Broughton, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the Linda E. White Hospice House, in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on January 7, 1925 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Willis Earl and Grace (Williams) Hunt. Helen married Marion Glenn Short on May 10, 1950, and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2016. She was a true farm wife. Helen worked along side her husband and family on their farm. She did everything from driving a tractor to taking care of everyday duties. Helen was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Norris City. She was an avid quilter. Helen enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her children, Peggy (Al) Buchanan of Glen Carbon, IL, David (Ruthann) Short of Broughton, IL. and Nancy (Roger) Sutton of Norris City, IL ; grandchildren, Rhonda (Kelly) Forston, Rachel (Joe) Gray, Kimberly Fuqua, Kory (Chelsea) Sutton, Jeremy (Andrea) Short, Jaclyn (Joe) Melton; Jason Short, Jordan (Jordan) Ruppert, Steve (Debbie) Buchanan, Mike (Roz) Buchanan, Sonya (Eric) Whitener, Terry (Sherri) Buchanan and Shane Williams; 32 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Earl Hunt Jr.of Hondo, TX. and Ruth Griffith of Devine, TX. In addition to her husband Marion Glenn Short, Helen is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wayne Hunt and Carl Hunt. Funeral services for Helen Short, will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
