Wayne County Sheriff’s Officials have released information on a pair of incidents that have taken place this week.
On Tuesday at 12:37 AM, Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Jeremy L. Tucker. During the stop, officers conducted a search of Tucker’s vehicle and allegedly found 18 grams of meth. A passenger in the vehicle, Rachel M. Hutchinson was allegedly found to be in possession of under 5 grams of meth.
Tucker is being preliminary charged with possession with the intent to deliver meth, possession of meth, use of property to violate the methamphetamine act, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tucker is being held on $500,000 bond in the Wayne County Jail.
Hutchinson is facing counts of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on $20,000 in the Wayne Co. Jail.
On Tuesday at 8 PM, Wayne County Deputies on patrol noticed a man walking on South 1st Street who was wanted on warrants. Deputies say that Wesley A. Cone had an active warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. After a deputy made contact with Cone, Cone allegedly threw a metal canister, striking a deputy in the head. A short foot pursuit took place and eventually Cone was tased. Cone was apprehended and the continued to resist arrest. Deputies allegedly also found discarded meth from Cone.
Cone faces charges of aggravated battery of a peace officer, aggravated assault of a police officer, obstruction justice, possession of meth, resisting arrest, and was wanted on a Wayne County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Cone was booked into the Wayne Co. Mail with bond set at $100,000.
