Betty Aileen Turner, 83, Carmi

Betty Aileen Turner, 83, of Carmi, passed away at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. She was at home, surrounded by her family. Betty was born on November 22, 1939, in White County, the daughter of Earl Hays and Emily White. She married John Edward “Ed” Turner and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1986. Betty was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. For many years, Betty was a compassionate caregiver, taking care of those who needed home health care.

     Betty is survived by a daughter, Susan (Terry) Bassemier of Carmi, IL: a son, John Turner of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Megan Straw, Morgan Aldridge, Madison Turner, Angela Mendenhall, Lisa Miller, Ashley Jenkins, Beth McWhirter, and Heather Bassemier; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bob Virgil, her twin, Bill Hays, Virginia Austin and Linda Winter; She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed Turner; a daughter, Jane Turner; and a grandson, Jason Miller.

     Funeral Services for Betty Turner will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at West Union Cemetery in Norris City. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty’s memory to Campbell Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
