Unis R. Shiever, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, formerly of Carmi, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at North River Health Campus in Evansville, Indiana. She was born in Zelienople Harmony, Pennsylvania, the daughter of George and Elda (Withrow) Simmons. She married Donald R. Shiever on October 19, 1956, and he survives.
Unis was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi, Illinois. She enjoyed reading and flower gardening. She had a passion for politics, and was a member of the Republican Women’s Organization.
Survivors include her husband, Don Shiever of Evansville; sons Alan R. Shiever of Bluffton, South Carolina, Scott B. Shiever of Evansville; daughter Diana L. Trimborn of Evansville; sister Geri (Joseph) Albenze of Bluffton; grandchildren Nicholas (Heather) Shiever, Jake Shiever, Joshua (Jessica) Shiever, Mitchell Trimborn, Blake Shiever; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother Ken Simmons.
Visitation is 3-5 pm, Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi, Illinois. Funeral is 10 am, Monday, August 14, 2023, at Cook Funeral Chapel with burial in White County Memorial Gardens near Carmi, Illinois.
