The Illinois State Police have released new details on an incident that happened earlier this eeek at East Fork Lake in Olney.
On Monday, a boat accident occurred on the lake, located in Richland County. A female was operating a boat pulling an adult male and a juvenile female on a tube. Both occupants of the tube fell into the water and the adult male did not resurface. Emergency services were called and a search ensued utilizing sonar from boats in attempt to locate the male victim. On Wednesday, an image of the victim was captured by sonar and Crawford County dive team was deployed. The victim was recovered and pronounced deceased by the Richland County Coroner. A boat accident investigation is being completed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police.
Olney Police Department, Olney Fire Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Dive Team, Jasper County EMA, and Robinson Police Department. Also present on day of incident were the Effingham Dive Team and Vincennes Dive Team.
