Fairfield City Council Recap from 8/22

The Fairfield City Council met Tuesday evening for a brief 20 minute session.
The council unanimously passed an ordinance regulating storage containers on business property. This includes areas zoned B-1 and B-2. The new ordinance follows a similar ordinance passed last winter, regulating containers placed in residential areas. The new ordinance states that containers must be on concrete, be a monochrome color, and not be within 7′ of an existing structure. Business owners who currently have a container on their property will need to contact the city to obtain a permit.
Libby Lingafelter was unanimously reappointed to the position of Economic Development & Chamber of Commerce Coordinator. Mayor Moore stated that Libby was a great asset to the city. The city has an intergovernmental agreement with the county for the salary.
The council unanimously approved a street closing for the FCHS Homecoming Parade on October 6 from 1:15 – 3:00 pm.
Mayor Moore announced that no bids were received for the water tower fence project, so local contractors will be contacted to see if anyone is interested. He also announced that the old water tower will be coming down on August 30, with crews expected to arrive around 5:30 am. The job is expected to last one day.
