Ruth Medler, 96, of Fairfield, died at 8:30pm on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Aperion Care in Fairfield. She had been a licensed daycare operator for many years. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Fairfield, where she taught Sunday School in years past.
Ruth was born on March 12, 1927, in Springerton, IL, to Tom and Letha (Miller) Venters. On March 12, 1946, she married the love of her life, Clifford “Pedro” Medler, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son Tim Medler of Fairfield, a daughter Dneise (Jedd) Trotter of Fairfield, three grandchildren Gabriel (Rachael) Trotter, Lucas Trotter, and Abigail Trotter, two great grandchildren Keely Upchurch and Haven Trotter, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford “Pedro” Medler, a daughter-in-law Teresa Medler, three brothers Lex Venters, Clyde Venters, and Vernon Venters, and four sisters Louise Cooper, Mary Patterson, Dorothy McClintock, and Martha Cunningham.
Funeral services for Ruth Medler will be at 1pm on Thursday, August 31st, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Brush Creek Campground and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
