The Fairfield Mules picked up their first win of the season as they defeated the Eldorado Eagles 32-18 at Eldorado.
Fairfield jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter and midway in the 2nd, Eldorado added a score to make it 16-6. Fairfield added one more score to make it 24-6 at half.
Eldorado started the 2nd half with a long drive, leading to a touchdown to make it a 24-12 score. The Mules added one more score in the second half to make it 32-12. Eldorado scored in the 4th, making it 32-18 and then recovered a muffed kick return by Fairfield and couldn’t make any ground up on that. The Mules ran the clock out to pick up their first win of the season.
Fairfield is now 1-1 on the season as they prepare for Sesser-Vailer-Waltonville next Friday.
Edwards County slipped to 0-2 on the season as they fell to Johnston City 55-6 in their home opening game. The games served as the Shriner game with the funds benefiting Shriner’s Hospital. Edwards County will travel to 1-1 Flora next week.
