COVID Cases Still Around

By Tony Collins Sep 17, 2023 | 7:05 AM

Covid hasn’t completely went away.  The latest weekly update this past Thursday from the Centers For Disease Control showed Wayne and Jefferson counties have dropped to the low level for COVID transmission after new hospitalizations dropped.  It also showed Marion and Washington counties are at the medium level for COVID-19 spread and have been joined by Effingham and Fayette counties.

As of September 2nd the CDC reported ten hospitalizations each in Marion, Washington, Fayette and Effingham counties.  The CDC no longer tracks the number of COVID-19 cases, as most testing is now done at home.

The Illinois Department of Public Health’s website showed over 36,000 people in the state have died from COVID since the pandemic started in early 2020.
