IECC Gets Grant for Synchronized Lecture Halls

The IECC recently announced they have received a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture which will fund the creation of 12 state-of-the-art “Synchronous Lecture Halls.” “Synchronous Lecture Halls” are designed to connect students to faculty members and educational programs at different geographic locations through high-quality video conferencing technology. IECC Chancellor, Dr. Ryan Gower, says this initiative is in line with the original purpose of community colleges, which was to make sure that residents had convenient access to a high-quality post-secondary education without the need to relocate or travel long distances. Gower says the benefits extend beyond geographical accessibility and foster student engagement, promote interactive learning experiences, and provide flexibility for both faculty and students. The grant totaled seven-hundred-nineteen-thousand three-hundred-eighty-one dollars.
