City Council Approves Settlement in Titzer Wrongful Termination Suit

The City of Fairfield has agreed to a settlement with a former Fairfield Police Officer. During last night’s City Council meeting the Council unanimously approved the settlement of a lawsuit filed by Justin Titzer. According to Mayor Moore, the involved parties went through mediation last week, which resulted in the settlement. The settlement includes a $295,000 payment to Titzer of which, $156,400 will be paid by the city. In other business, the City Council approved the purchase of a used Police vehicle from the Kansas Highway Patrol for $28,750. The replaced vehicle will be used by another city department. A resolution approving $120,000 as a Motor Fuel Tax appropriation for street repair work was approved. The council approved renewing membership in the Mutual Aid Box Alarm system and a discussion was held concerning a fire-damaged residence at 908 Mt. Vernon Road.
