The City of Fairfield is reminding the public that beginning October 2nd they will be doing a “free chlorine burn” on the city’s water lines. They say this mean they will be switching from what the city currently uses to disinfect the water to just chlorine alone. The city says as a result the water will smell and taste like “pool water.” However, they say the water is still safe to drink. They will also be flushing hydrants, so citizens may notice temporary discoloration of the water. They say this process will begin October 2nd and last through the month.
