Two second-level nursing students at Frontier Community College were recently awarded $500 as recipients of the Debra Jean Withrow Scholarship. This year’s recipients are Katie Gruen and Kenna Stum. The Withrow scholarship was established in January 2007 in memory of Debra Jean Withrow, a surgical nurse who worked at Fairfield Memorial Hospital at the time of her death in 2005. She was involved in teaching students and served as the President of the local chapter of AORN, The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. At the end of 2012, the scholarship fund raised by the Scholarship Trustees and members of the Surgical Services Department of Fairfield Memorial Hospital was transferred to the FCC Foundation to be issued annually as the Debra Jean Withrow Scholarship.
