On September 26, 2023, Kristen Dickey was presented with a scholarship through the Clemence Elizabeth Cox Scholarship program and the generosity of Adella Williams. Williams who currently resides in Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, formerly of Fairfield, sponsored an additional scholarship for Fall 2023 semester of Clemence Elizabeth Cox program at Frontier Community College. Adella is a lifetime friend of Jerry Cox and shares his passion for the nursing program at FCC and for helping others in the community. Williams specifically wanted to award this scholarship to an applicant with a desire to stay in the Fairfield community upon graduation to work in the local healthcare field. Rachel Ewing, Chief Nursing Officer, Fairfield Memorial Hospital and graduate of the FCC Nursing Program, was also present at the ceremony. Jerry Cox began the Clemence Elizabeth Cox Scholarship Program at Frontier in 2009 in memory of his late mother to give back to the community and specifically the healthcare field. He has since partnered with Fairfield Memorial Hospital to offer scholarships to hospital employees seeking additional education for the betterment of healthcare delivery in our community. “Jerry’s vision for recognizing the increased financial responsibility of obtaining a college degree along the need for retaining graduates in our community for employment in the healthcare field is a win-win not only for the two organizations, but for the community at large,” said Rachel Ewing, CNO-Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Sarah Rush, president of Frontier Community College foundation added, “we appreciate Jerry’s commitment as well as Ms. Williams to our institution in order to continue to expand scholarship offerings at Frontier.”
