Eddie Leon Shelton, 61, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at his home in Wayne City. Eddie was born September 23, 1962 in Aurora, IL to Fred Shelton & Betty (Allen) Thomas. On July 16, 2023 he married Kym (Martin) Shelton, who survives.
Eddie had worked in construction, and as a carpenter. He was known for his ability to make beautiful pieces of furniture by hand. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as an Infantryman in the Army’s 82nd Airborne. He was also a member of the Rat Rod Addiction Car Club. He enjoyed hot rods and attending car shows, and won some trophies and awards. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he will be deeply missed.
Eddie is survived by his wife Kym Shelton, 9 children: Cody (Sara) Shelton, Sabrina Morton, Eddie Morton, Samantha (Cole) Moline, Emily Rutherford, Suzzanne (Hayden) Gray, John Rutherford, Devon Morton, and Mallory Hart; several grandchildren, 3 sisters: Darlene Shopinski, Peggy Withrow, and Loretta Parsons, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eddie’s family would also like to thank the Greenwalts and the Parkers for their help and compassion during this difficult time.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Shelton & Betty Thomas, an infant brother Gary Shelton, and a step daughter Nicole Hart.
There will be no formal services at this time, but a private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist Eddie’s family with final expenses, and may be made payable to Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.
