The region’s weather during the month of September was calmer compared to July and August, according to statistics from the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky.

They say their office issued a total of 15 weather warnings the entire month of September, which included 12 severe thunderstorm warnings and three flash flood warnings.

September started out on the warm side with temperatures over 90 degrees during the first week of the month, followed by several days of below normal temperatures after September 6th.  Temperatures returned to above normal by the third week of September with several locations well above normal by the end of September.

The only severe weather event of the month was scattered large hail and wind damage reports on September 27th and 28th.  The entire month’s temperatures finished a degree or two above normal, with precipitation about an inch or two below normal.
