Former Bank Vice President Sentenced

The former vice president of a Mt. Vernon bank has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for bank fraud and arson. Richard Pigg pleaded guilty to six counts of bank fraud and three counts of arson. Prosecutors said Pigg used his position as the vice president of Community First Bank of the Heartland to defraud more than $600,000 from the bank to pay for personal expenses and purchase private investment properties. Pigg also admitted to setting fire to two investment properties to collect the insurance money.
