Pamala M. Whetstone, 69, Carmi

Pamala M. Whetstone, 69, of Carmi, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on February 8, 1954, in Carmi, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond “Tige” and Ruby Jean (Nichols) Austin. Pam graduated from Carmi High School in 1972. Early in her life she worked on the farm as well as owning and operating Whetstone Enterprises Convenient Store in Burnt Prairie, Illinois. She later Owned and operated Merle Norman in Fairfield, Illinois, and finally worked as Office Manager at Airtex until retirement. Pam was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burnt Prairie. She enjoyed going to rummage sales, estate sales and reselling items. If there was a bargain, she would find it. Pam loved to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most of all, she loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she enjoyed taking them to the movies and swimming.     Pam is survived by her two sons, Nathan (Lauren) Whetstone of Carmi, IL. and John (Kristine) Whetstone of Burnt Prairie, IL; her longtime companion, Steve Knapp of Carmi, IL; and grandchildren, Aiden Whetstone, Braden Blackwell, Gage Whetstone, Makayla Blazier and Kyzen Edwards.     Funeral services for Pamala Whetstone will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28. 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Burnt Prairie Cemetery in Burnt Prairie, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, October 28, 2023. At Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Pam’s memory to the American Heart/American Stroke Association, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
