Lavina Ray, 78, of Vincennes, Indiana

Lavina Ray, 78, of Vincennes, Indiana, formerly of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Lavina was born February 26, 1945 in Mt. Erie, Illinois, the daughter of Jacob and Ina (Allison) Fitch. She married to George Ray, and he survives.

Lavina loved her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and watching old movies on TV. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking and was president of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Eagles Lodge. Lavina had a strong faith and regularly attended Sunday services until she no longer could. She will be missed by all those that knew her. Lavina Ray is survived by her husband of 42 years, George Ray of Vincennes, IN; son, Greg Longbons of Olney; daughters, Kathy Wilson of Parkersburg, IL, Tracy George of Vincennes, IN; step-daughters, Anita Brown and Michelle Medina, both of Pinkstaff, IL; adopted son, Philip Ray of Clay City; 16 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Longbons; five brothers, Warren, Gene, Leland, James, and Darrell; and one sister, Vera Burgin.

 

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

 

Interment will follow the service at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney.

 

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
